A friend (Bryan) of a friend (Melissa) made the mistake of posting a picture on social media with a Starbucks gift card.
Some not-so-nice person was able to scan the barcode from the image and use the funds on the card to get free coffee for themselves. Lame.
But then comes the fun part. Once Bryan realized anyone could use the barcode, he created a private group for coffee-loving friends, so that they could take advantage of this.
Then Melissa came along and added $50 back onto the same gift card, basically giving her a chance to buy a cup of coffee for far-flung friends. It's a beautiful combination of kindness, generosity, and creative problem-solving.
What a great way to turn a negative experience into a positive one.
